Project Challenge

Create a sculptural piece that contains a narration, light and shadow, aluminum, and a character.

Design Solution

A multi-layered narrative driven cyber city shadow box inspired by Carl Sanburg's poem, fog, designed to capture a moment in time and evoke emotion.

PLA, Resin, Aluminum, Acrylic, Vellum, Photo Gel, String Lights

With string lights selected as the primary light source for the project, I incorporated interior prongs within the box to secure the wiring and prevent any movement.

For the physical prototype, I utilized laser-cut photo gel filters to fill each window. To evoke the vibrant aesthetic of a cyber city, I strategically layered red, yellow, and blue gels to produce secondary colors, purple, orange, and green, through additive blending.
